Description

Step aboard your private gondola and glide through the canals of Venice, with different routes taking you from quieter waterways to some of the city’s best-known sights. Over 400 hours go into getting a Gondolier licence, learning the ins and outs of the canals, Venetian art and history. You’re really in the safest hands.”

The shortest tour takes you through the San Paolo district, offering an intimate look at Venice away from the busiest sights. Look out for the distinctive canal-facing façades of Venetian buildings. Before streets existed, the canals were the city’s main routes, and these grand façades were an important way for families to show their wealth and style.

The one-hour option continues towards the Grand Canal, while the 1.5-hour tour takes you towards the Rialto Bridge area. The longest ride also includes St Mark’s Square, bringing some of Venice’s most famous sights into the itinerary. Whichever route you choose, you’ll experience the city from its historic waterways, just as generations of Venetians have done.

Good to know before you go
  • The 30-minute tour goes to Palazzo Briati, the 1-hour tour to San Polo, the 1.5-hour tour to Rialto Market, and the 2-hour tour includes the full itinerary.
  • This activity takes place rain or shine. In the event of very high tides or heavy rain, the tour may be cancelled by the supplier and a full refund provided.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before departure. If you arrive late, the ride will be shorter. Arrivals over 15 minutes late are considered a no-show.
  • Each gondola carries a maximum of 5 people, including children. Larger groups will be divided between multiple gondolas. Each booking is for one gondola. Customers requiring multiple gondolas must make separate bookings.
  • Dogs are allowed and don't count towards the maximum. Babies also need a ticket.
  • Your gondolier can provide commentary and answer questions about the city, or you can simply enjoy the ride.
