Description
Experience the Vatican like never before on this premier private tour. With fast-track access to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, you will bypass the massive Roman crowds to explore centuries of Papal history.
Accompanied by a dedicated expert art historian guide, you’ll explore one of the world’s most extraordinary collections. Wander through the Gallery of Maps, the Tapestry Gallery, and the Raphael Rooms, filled with Renaissance masterpieces and ancient sculptures.
The Sistine Chapel & 2026 Restoration Notice The crown jewel of your visit is the Sistine Chapel. Stand beneath Michelangelo’s world-famous ceiling frescoes. Please note: As of early 2026, the Last Judgment wall is undergoing essential conservation and may be partially or fully covered by scaffolding. However, your guide will use this unique opportunity to explain the meticulous restoration process and provide a deep dive into the unobstructed ceiling frescoes, including the iconic Creation of Adam.
The Holy Door & St. Peter’s Basilica Heritage After the chapel, your guide will lead you toward the grandeur of St. Peter’s Basilica. A major highlight of this tour is the viewing of the Holy Door (Porta Sancta). Though now sealed in bronze following the historic 2025 Jubilee, you will learn the fascinating 500-year-old secrets of this door that only opens once every 25 years.
Your guided experience concludes at the threshold of the Basilica. Your guide will provide an expert orientation of the interior, allowing you to step inside at your own pace to discover Michelangelo’s Pietà, Bernini’s Baldachin, and the Tomb of St. Peter.
- Visitors with a certified disability of 74% or higher, along with one accompanying person, must notify the activity provider at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
- Guides are not permitted to speak inside the Sistine Chapel. An explanation will be provided before entry, and the guide will accompany the group silently inside.
- During busy periods, security checks and mandatory headset collection may cause delays.
- Shoulders and knees must be covered to enter the Sistine Chapel and Basilica. Entry may be denied for improper attire.
- From January to March 2026, restoration work on Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment will take place. The Sistine Chapel will remain open, but scaffolding may partially or fully obstruct the altar wall. No refunds are issued for restoration work, scaffolding, or unannounced closures by the Vatican.
- In the rare event of Basilica closure, the guide will offer an alternative Vatican itinerary to ensure a complete experience.
