Explore the highlights of the Vatican City on a 3-hour guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica.
Meet your guide outside the Vatican Museums for an introduction to a selection of the galleries of classical sculptures, tapestries, and paintings. Journey through Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. See maps by age-old cartographers. Go to the private chambers of former popes, and see paintings by Raffaello.
Enter the Sistine Chapel to see Michelangelo Buonarroti’s miraculous frescoes, and his ceiling painting of “The Last Judgment.” The, access St. Peter's Basilica and explore the largest church in the Catholic faith. The sacred site was built around 320 by Emperor Constantine over the tomb of the apostle Peter. Completely redesigned about 200 years later by artists such as Bramante, Michelangelo and Bernini, it is now the spiritual heart of the Christian world.
Exit onto St. Peter's Square, and admire the colonnades by Bernini. Look up at the vast dome of St. Peter's as you tour ends on St. Peter’s Square.
- Please note that on Wednesdays the visit to St, Peter's Basilica is not permitted due to the Papal Audience
- There is a strict dress code at the Vatican: shorts, miniskirts and uncovered shoulders are not permitted
- It is compulsory to leave umbrellas with spike tips or, metal objects at the cloakroom of the Vatican Museums
- It is strictly forbidden to enter the Vatican Museums with any kind of weapon or oversized backpacks
