Description
Experience two of Rome’s most important basilicas with a single, immersive cultural visit that combines exclusive access and engaging audioguides. With this ticket, enter the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the four Papal Basilicas of Rome, and enjoy access to special areas normally closed to the general public. You will also have the opportunity to visit Pope Francis’ tomb and pay your respects.
Your ticket includes entry to the Loggia delle Benedizioni, from where you can admire the basilica’s façade from a privileged viewpoint, the historic Sala dei Papi with its portraits and artworks celebrating centuries of papal history, the Scala del Bernini, a remarkable architectural creation by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and the Museo Liberiano, which preserves ancient mosaics, manuscripts, liturgical objects, and artifacts that trace more than a millennium of religious and artistic tradition.
As you explore, the included audioguide will accompany you with clear explanations, fascinating stories, and historical insights that allow you to fully appreciate the significance and beauty of each space at your own pace.
Just a short walk from Santa Maria Maggiore stands the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, the Cathedral of Rome and the oldest papal basilica. While entrance to San Giovanni is free, your experience becomes truly special thanks to the special audioguide.
The audioguide enhances your visit by helping you understand the basilica’s extraordinary architecture, symbolic sculptures, mosaics, chapels, and historical meaning. Learn about its role as the “Mother of all Churches,” discover the significance of the papal altar, admire the monumental statues of the apostles, and uncover the rich history behind the cloister and the Holy Door.
