Description

You will meet your expert, certified tour guide at the meeting point and join your small group of no more than 15 people. From here your guide will take you into the museums through the maze-like entry without you having to worry about a thing. As you begin your tour, you will learn all about the vastness of the Vatican museums and the collection of art and artifacts within. Pass through room after room of Ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, Enter the Gallery of the Maps and discover the history of the Italian Peninsula. You will continue to follow your guide through the Hall of Tapestries to see the incredible detail in these centuries old wall hangings. As you enter the Raphael Rooms, your tour guide will find the best vantage points in the small crowded rooms in order to fully engage you in some of Raphael's most famous frescoes. Next, you'll move on to visit the Sistine Chapel and stand in awe at the Renaissance masterpiece of Michelangelo's ceiling fresco as well as his Last Judgment on the chapel wall. To conclude your tour your guide will take you to the exit of the museums where you began. If you are lucky enough to be there on a day when the special access door is open, your guide will escort you into St. Peter's square and leave you with an explanation about the Basilica, you can then decide if you would like to go inside the Basilica on your own. *This special access door is not always open and we cannot guarantee that this will be the way you exit.
