Description
Step into the heart of ancient Rome with a premium, dual-layered archaeological journey designed for discerning travellers.
Your experience begins at the majestic Piazza della Rotonda, where you will step directly past the crowded ticket lines and into the Pantheon. Stand beneath the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome, marvelling at the ancient engineering of the oculus as sunlight pours into the monumental temple.
You will have dedicated time to independently explore the imperial architecture, the royal tombs of Italian kings, and the final resting place of the Renaissance master Raphael.
Following your Pantheon experience, join your guide for a curated architectural walk through the historic cobblestone alleys of the Trevi district. Your guide will share hidden stories of Rome's ancient water networks as you make your way toward the city's most famous fountain.
The highlight of your journey awaits as you descend 9 meters below modern street level into the fascinating subterranean archaeological site of Vicus Caprarius. Known as the "City of Water," this hidden imperial complex reveals the intricate ancient distribution tanks of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct, which still feeds the Trevi Fountain today.
Your guide will lead you through the excavated remains, pointing out ancient Roman structures, rare imperial coins, and preserved terracotta pottery. This intimate, hosted exploration offers an unforgettable look at the sophisticated engineering that powered the Roman Empire from the surface down to its deep underground roots.
Make sure to understand that the Pantheon will be a self-guided experience, but the hidden depths of the Trevi will be a guided tour experience. With us, be assured that your attractions will seem more than just attractions to you. You will carry a piece of this experience when you go home.
Guided tours are subject to daily availability. For confirmed live guide slots, please message us after booking. If a live guide is unavailable, a multilingual audio guide will be provided for your exclusive experience.
