Description

Hop aboard a fun and comfortable electric golf cart for an impressive underground tour of the Appian Way Catacombs, which will take you back in time to around the 3rd century AD in the most intriguing history of Rome, far from the chaos and traffic of the city.
Let yourself be transported by our driver in complete safety and relax to reach one of the most hidden and at the same time most curious destinations in Rome: the first Christian catacombs, a place of burial and worship for the first Christians of Rome.
An official catacombs guide will welcome you and introduce you to the unusual history of this ancient site during an approximately 40-minute visit.
You will be completely amazed and fascinated to discover the mysteries of these extensive labyrinths of tombs, sepulchers and sacred places of Rome, a still little-known side of Rome's history.
The tourist golf cart shuttle will leave from our office located not far from the Colosseum, and will take you towards the Via Appia Antica, the queen of ancient Roman roads, immersed in one of the most beautiful and extensive archaeological parks in the world.

Good to know before you go
  • Please be on time to avoid missing out on entry to the catacombs which is non-refundable.
  • Not recommended if you suffer from severe claustrophobia.
  • The tour is not accessible for visitors on wheelchairs or with severe motor disabilities since the visit requires climbing down and up steep stairs.
  • The temperature inside the Catacombs is around 16°C / 61°F with high humidity; so, please take warm clothes even in summer :)
  • Photos are not permitted in the Catacombs.
  • Proper dress is required to enter places of worship: no shorts or sleeveless tops allowed for either men or women. For ladies, shoulders must be covered and skirts or trousers must be below knee-level.
  • Please be aware that the catacombs' management may change the entry time without notice and this may cause slight delays to our program.
  • The catacombs area is not well supplied by buses etc, so having an express comfortable golf cart shuttle helps you save a lot of time on your holiday and why not, have fun and feel like a VIP :)
