Description

Most visitors look up at the Colosseum from the stands. You'll stand at its center.

Meet your licensed guide outside the amphitheater for the story of how this stone giant was built nearly 2,000 years ago, then enter through the Gladiator's Gate, the same passage once used by fighters walking out to face 50,000 roaring spectators. Step directly onto the Arena Floor, an exclusive area most standard tickets never reach, and take in the Colosseum from the gladiator's point of view: the rising tiers around you, the underground chambers below where men and animals once waited.

Climb to the first and second levels, where your guide brings the games to life: the emperors who staged them, the engineering that made them possible, and the daily reality of Roman spectacle, separating real history from Hollywood myth.

From there, continue into the Roman Forum and up Palatine Hill, the political and imperial heart of the ancient world. Walk the Via Sacra where senators and emperors once made world-changing decisions, see the temples and basilicas, and look out over the birthplace of the Eternal City. By the end, the ruins won't feel like ruins. They'll feel like a city you just walked through.
