Description

This day trip provides an overview of the beautiful Amalfi Coast, with a visit to the picturesque village of Positano or Sorrento and a tour of the archaeological site at Pompeii.

The tour includes a private vehicle and English-speaking driver. Your driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Rome and drive you along the spectacular Amalfi Coast.

Probably the best-known town along the coast is Sorrento, where you will stop for lunch in a local restaurant. The tour then continues with a drive to Sorrento or Positano, one of the most beautiful seaside villages of the coast, nestled on a pretty hillside of honeysuckle and bougainvillea.

You will have the misty shadow of Mt Vesuvius in your sight at all times and the day includes a visit to the site of the volcano’s greatest tragedy at Pompeii.

The most stunning archaeological site on the Italian Peninsula and one of the most visited sites in the world, the Greco Roman city was frozen in time after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. It is now an open-air museum, where you can walk through the city streets, which remained buried in ash for hundreds of years.

Here you can upgrade to include a private walking tour of the ruins with an expert guide, or simply stroll on your own before your return journey back to Rome.
