Description

Rome may be the Eternal City… but not everyone here stayed dead.

This isn’t your typical history tour, and it’s not your standard ghost tour either. This is where the two collide.

We’re diving into the real stories of Ancient Rome’s most powerful figures - emperors, elites, and those close enough to power to end up dead because of it. Murders, executions, betrayals… and the ghosts some believed came back afterwards.

You’ll walk through the places where these stories unfolded - where rulers met violent ends, where conspiracies played out in the shadows, and where the Romans themselves believed something lingered long after.

Along the way, you’ll uncover:
• Emperors who ruled absolutely… and died violently
• Assassinations and executions that shook the empire
• The brutal power struggles behind Rome’s greatest figures
• Ancient ghost stories tied to real events and real people
• Why the Romans feared restless spirits — and how they tried to keep them quiet

These aren’t modern legends invented for tourists. Our stories come from ancient writers like Suetonius, Tacitus, and Cassius Dio - the people who recorded Rome’s scandals, deaths, and whispered hauntings as they happened.

This is history with teeth. And sometimes… unfinished business.

Led by expert guides with a flair for storytelling (and a healthy appreciation for the darker side of things), this tour blends real events, dark humour, and just enough of the supernatural to keep things interesting.

If you want Ancient Rome with less glory and a lot more ghosts… this is the tour for you.

Good to know before you go
  • This is a walking tour focused on ghost stories and dark history from Ancient Rome. It does not include visits inside archaeological sites. The tour stays outdoors and involves around 2 km (1.2 miles) of walking, including some uneven ground and stairs
  • Expect real stories, strange legends, and zero gimmicks — no costumes, no fake scares, and no sugar-coating. If you’re after theatrical haunted houses or jump scares, this isn’t the tour for you
  • If, however, you enjoy dark tales, dry humour, and hearing the bits of Roman history most tours leave out… welcome to the Dark Side
