Description

Leave the bustling city center of Rome behind and enjoy a bike ride through the Roman countryside, which inspired 19th-century travelers such as Byron, Goethe, and Stendhal. Ride on history's first highway: the Appian Way, also called Regina Viarum, which still retains most of its original paving. Constructed in the 4th century BC, it was used as the main route to transport military supplies and for important families to build their tombs and mausoleums. On this ride, you will see the ancient Roman ruins, statues, an imperial palace, Christian catacombs, and pagan mausoleums with comfortables e-bikes.

Your expert guide will take you to discover the mains monuments, tombs and catacombs (Saint Callixtus and Saint Sebastian) you will understand how this road was conceived as a place of union between political, military, and religious power. You will also discover the wonderful Aqueducts park, the only park in the world that preserves 2 Roman aqueducts that are still in excellent condition. In the second half of the tour, go back through the Caffarella park, which contains several archaeological sites and a working farm and has considerable ecological value.
