Description

Discover the many artistic masterpieces of the Musée National d’Art Moderne collection, housed in the Pompidou Centre. Learn about modern and contemporary art with an intimate small-group tour. Meet your guide outside of the building, and begin your tour by examining the museum's striking exterior. Designed by Renzo Piano, the building was conceived as an “inside-out” structure and vibrantly colored.

After hearing about the museum’s origin, begin your tour of its modern art collection, which contains nearly 3,200 works. Discuss Cubism in front of a Picasso painting. Chat about Fauvism while admiring a Matisse. See how the World Wars impacted the art world. Witness the chaos and dark humor of the Dada movement – a reaction to the gore of World War I. Admire works by the surrealists such as Salvador Dali.

Learn about Pop Art as you check out a few of Andy Warhol’s works. Explore movements such as Bauhaus and Abstract Expressionism. Marvel at works by beloved French artists as well as international artists such O’Keefe, Pollock, and Mondrian.

Visit the museum's contemporary art galleries and find out about recent artistic movements like Fluxus and Minimalism. Experience works such as Dubuffet’s winter garden installation. Hang out on the museum's roof and take in the Parisian Panorama. By the end of your tour, you’ll have a complete overview of the modern art world.

Choose the private tour option and enjoy an even more personalized experience.
