Description
Step into a working New York City bagel shop for a hands-on baking experience at the heart of the city's bagel culture.
Your experience begins with a warm welcome and casual icebreaker to get to know your fellow bagel enthusiasts. Then, an award-winning baker will guide you through the classic rope-and-loop bagel rolling technique—a skill you’ll quickly put to use as you roll at least six of your own bagels from scratch.
Next, you'll watch a dough-making demonstration that reveals the building blocks of every great bagel, then learn how boiling and seeding give the New York bagel its iconic texture and taste—doing each step yourself with guidance from your instructor.
Between stages of dough development, you'll go behind the scenes of an operating bagel shop producing around 10,000 bagels a day—seeing commercial bagel-making up close while your instructor walks you through the bagel's history, from its Polish origins to the rise of the Bagel Bakers' Union and the modern New York bagel era.
The experience wraps with a group tasting of your freshly baked bagels alongside gourmet spreads, smoked fish, and classic accompaniments—plus a light-hearted bagel trivia quiz to cap things off. You'll head home with at least 6 bagels, the recipe, and everything you need to make them again.
