Description
The route:
Discover Harlem:
We'll kick off our tour by strolling through the vibrant streets of Harlem, a neighborhood that's the birthplace of some of the greatest jazz, blues, and hip-hop artists of all time. As we walk, you'll be captivated by Harlem's powerful murals—vivid, monumental works of art that bring the neighborhood's history to life. These amazing images pay homage to cultural icons, social movements, and everyday heroes, turning walls into open-air galleries that speak to the soul of the community. Each mural tells a story of pride, struggle, triumph, and creativity.
During our journey, we'll also stop at the legendary Apollo Theater, one of the most iconic music venues in the world. Known as a springboard for stars like Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, and Lauryn Hill, the Apollo is a beacon of Harlem's artistic legacy. We'll visit its famous facade and discover the stories of the artists and events that have made this theater a global cultural landmark.
You'll feel the heartbeat of Harlem under your feet as you explore a neighborhood that was the beating heart of the Black Renaissance and still pulsates with vibrant energy today.
Coffee break:
We'll take a break at one of Harlem's most beloved cafés. This place offers a unique atmosphere where you can relax, enjoy a hot drink, and soak up the authentic vibe of the neighborhood, surrounded by historic architecture and Harlem locals.
(Food and drinks are optional and not included in the tour price.)
Gospel church service:
After soaking up the Harlem vibes, we'll dive into the exciting sounds of gospel music during a traditional Sunday church service. This unforgettable experience will immerse you in the passion and power of gospel choirs, whose soaring voices fill the church with spiritual energy and joy. Get ready to be swept away by the rhythm and emotion of this unique moment.
Sylvia's Soul Kitchen (optional): The tour wraps up in front of Sylvia's, a Harlem soul food icon. Here you can enjoy traditional Southern dishes, from fried chicken to fish and homemade side dishes full of flavor.
(If you want to have lunch at the restaurant, we recommend booking in advance on your own).
