Description

THE TOUR
On this four-hour bicycle excursion throughout Lower Manhattan, we'll visit many key highlights as well as some less conspicuous marvels. Your guide will introduce gems that can easily be overlooked yet contain incredible stories. We'll use these landmarks to delve into the origins of various counter-cultural movements, like Greenwich Village's Beatnik era and the Yiddish anarchist movement from the Lower East Side.

Above the more straightforward history, this experience is curated to feature the most inspiring, unconventional morsels of local history, leaving each guest with a surprising amount of knowledge about New York City.

This experience begins and ends in TriBeCa.

MEET YOUR GUIDE & CREATOR
You won't be following a scripted employee on this ride. Your host is Robby, a former NYC bike messenger and the owner/sole operator of Freewheelin' Bike Tours. Robby has a strong interest in researching unconventional urban history, hidden landmarks, and the radical elements of New York's past. Whether he's leading specialized routes through Harlem and the Bronx or navigating the historic streets of Lower Manhattan, he builds every tour from scratch. Outside of cycling and uncovering obscure history, Robby enjoys hitting the ski slopes and tracking down the best oysters in the city.
