Description

After a short motorcoach ride across the Mississippi River, take a fascinating boat trip into the Louisiana swamps and bayous.

Experience the timeless beauty of South Louisiana in a custom built swamp boat as your local guide reveals the mysteries of the swamps and bayous and the Cajun “joie de vivre” in an active fishing village.

Travel the same labyrinth of land and water where privateer Jean Lafitte built a thriving and clandestine smuggling empire to bring luxury goods to the Louisiana elite.

You’ll discover how the seafood from our bountiful waters provides a wide assortment of local and worldwide dishes! Plus you’ll observe the nesting grounds of alligators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and many species of snakes. Some wildlife are more numerous in the swamps during the warmer months of the year.

You’ll also learn why our wetlands are disappearing, due to coastal erosion, and man’s efforts to correct the damage it has done by restoring this vital habitat.

Bring your camera to capture the “bon temps” (good times) on the bayou!
