Description

Experience 2 quintessential Louisiana features—Swampland & Plantation Home—on a guided day trip from New Orleans with hotel pick-up. Visit Cajun Pride Swamp Tours, a privately owned wildlife refuge, for a 1.5 hour narrated boat tour on a custom-made flat bottomed, covered boat. Tour Oak Alley Plantation, with entry tickets included. Built in 1837-39, the plantation is famous for its alley of 28 evenly spaced live oak trees.

Due to the length of this tour, we recommend our guests eat a hearty breakfast and pack a bagged lunch or snack. Alternatively, water, soda, coffee, snacks (alligator jerky, chips, chocolate, candy and frozen bananas) are available for purchase in the ticket office/gift shop.

Start with a 10:30AM-11:00AM (30 minute pick-up window) pick-up from your hotel on the Cajun Pride Shuttle Bus. In consideration for all guests and for sanitation reasons, there is no eating or drinking in the shuttle.

After leaving the city at approximately 11:00AM, head out of New Orleans to Cajun Pride Swamp Tours. Our shuttle buses arrive at the swamp at approximately 11:30AM for the 12:00PM swamp tour. The tour lasts until approximately 1:40PM.

In the ticket office/gift shop, snacks such as alligator jerky, chips, chocolate and frozen bananas are offered. Soda, beer and shooters are also available in limited quantities with a pictured I.D. Snacks and beverages can be enjoyed on the boats. There are picnic tables throughout the property also for your enjoyment. In the gift shop find an assortment of unisex Cajun Pride t-shirts, logo pottery mugs, alligator naivety items, jewelry and stuffed animals.

Buses depart the swamp no later than 2:00PM as Oak Alley Plantation is on a scheduled tour time. Many guests enjoy these 30 minutes of free time browsing our gift shop, using the restroom and enjoying the grounds at Cajun Pride. Cajun Pride shuttle bus will drop off guests between 2:45PM-3:00PM. The plantation requires our bus driver to assist in the check-in process for ticket distribution.

Oak Alley tour time is approximately 3:00PM. This time is offered through the plantation, and we are unable to deviate from what is assigned. After your guided tour, there is approximately 30 minutes of free time.

Cajun Pride shuttle bus will pick-up guests between 4:30PM-4:45PM for transfer back to the city. Shuttle times are approximate and are not guaranteed due to potential traffic or weather delays. Our drivers do their very best to stay on schedule.

Finish your tour with the return journey to New Orleans, where you’ll be dropped off at your starting hotel.

Good to know before you go
  • The tour takes place in rain or shine other than thunderstorms
  • Frequently asked question: Is there an alligator on the boat? Why is there gauze around the alligator’s mouth and will it harm the alligator?
  • We do have live alligators and sometimes rescued animals on the boats. Anytime an alligator is presented, the mouth will have loose athletic gauze around the mouth for safety reasons. We follow strict guidelines and have proper permits in order to have an alligator on tour. Alligators are very precious to us, and we handle them with the utmost care and respect rotating them throughout the day for their comfort. The captain will have the final say if he will allow anyone of any age to hold our animals to maintain the animals’ comfort and trust.
