You will have the real Airboat experience by getting onboard an "open air" airboat usually with a small group of passengers and not on an overcrowded airboat ( 60% of times just as a private airboat ride at the price of a shared tour). A visit to an old indian village is usually included. Moreover the airboat covers more than 8 miles of this unique environment made of natural marshes ( not just circling over a short distance as it happens in the more commercial parks).
The Everglades have a unique and diverse ecosystem made up of sawgrass marshes, mangrove forests, cypress swamps, and a network of slow-moving rivers.
