Description

London Transport Museum, the world's leading museum of urban transport, invites you to take an exclusive Hidden London guided tour and discover a new side of London at Baker Street Station, including areas not seen by the public who use this station for everyday travel. Explore the origins of the world’s first underground network with exclusive access to areas that haven't been used for over 75 years. This is the ONLY tour to have access to the hidden areas of the station.

Opened on January 10, 1863, as part of the Metropolitan Railway, Baker Street was home to the launch of a revolutionary idea: carrying passengers beneath Victorian London’s congested streets. This revolutionary system provided the foundation for metro systems across the world.

On the tour, see closed-off parts of the station, including original platforms, old lift shafts, and corridors that are hidden in plain sight, some of which were last accessed by the public as far back as 1945.

Along the way, learn about the station’s history as the operational headquarters for the London Underground and hear first-hand accounts from those who worked (and played) here over the years. Hear facts and stories directly from the London Transport Museum's extensive archive and collection.

Hear what the very first passengers thought of underground travel in 1863, how the Underground grew and expanded over the next 16 decades, and how Baker Street served not only passengers but also the London Underground staff.
