Description
You’ll join a guided tour into the Frasassi Caves and step into a hidden world beneath the Apennines, where enormous chambers open up like a natural cathedral. Over an easy walk of about 1 hour and 30 minutes, your guide will lead you through spectacular underground spaces shaped over immense geological time by water moving through fractured limestone.
Along the route you’ll encounter some of Frasassi’s most iconic “natural sculptures” and geological highlights, including the Ancona Abyss, the shimmering Crystallized Lake, Niagara, the Little Fairy’s Castle, The Giants, the vast 200 Hall, the dramatic Gran Canyon, Ursa’s Hall, and the Neverending Hall—each with its own atmosphere, scale, and striking formations. Expect to see stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone surfaces, and mineral details that make the caves feel like a living gallery of stone.
The tour is accessible to everybody, and the temperature stays constant at around 14°C all year round. Wear comfortable shoes, and even in summer bring a sweatshirt for the cool underground air.
