Description

Located in Dublin's Docklands, just a 10 minute walk from the city centre, you'll find the award-winning EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and the fascinating Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship.

Begin your combo experience with a tour of The Jeanie Johnston. Step back in time and follow in the footsteps of those who fled the horrors of the famine. Experience the wonder of a tall ship and hear the remarkable stories of the passengers and crew, all aboard a vessel nicknamed 'The Miracle Ship'.

Afterwards, enjoy a self-guided visit to EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, where you'll find a series of galleries that depict how one small island made a big impact on the world. Discover why Irishness is celebrated across the globe, with a journey through our history and culture, told from the perspective of those who lived it.

You won’t find leprechauns or pots of gold here, but you will discover that what it means to be Irish expands far beyond the borders of Ireland through the stories of Irish emigrants who became scientists, politicians, poets, artists and even outlaws all over the world. Discover Ireland from the outside in and find out why saying “I’m Irish” is one of the biggest conversation starters, no matter where you are.

Good to know before you go
  • Unfortunately, due to the nature of the Jeanie Johnston ship, and the fact that access is across a gangplank, our tour is not suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters or buggies. Visitors will need to be able to walk across the gangplank onto the ship. Scooters and buggies can be left in our office during the tour.
