Description

Start your tour from Civitavecchia port. Arrive at the meeting point with your tour assistant waiting for you in Largo della Pace. Remember you'll never walk alone: during the tour our assistant will be there ready to support and accompany you along the route. At 09.30 take the bus to Rome where we will arrive after around h 1 drive. First stop is St Peter square and Castel Sant'Angelo: located a few steps from St. Peter's Basilica, stands imposingly the Mausoleum of Hadrian. It is also known as Sant'Angelo Castle, a unique building because it can be considered, at the same time, a monument, an archaeological area, and a museum. After that head to Piazza Navona, built on the ruins of the Domitian Circus, now adorned by Bernini's fountain of the 4 Rivers and continue to the Pantheon, originally built to honor the 7 deities of Ancient Rome. Featuring the largest brick dome in the history of architecture, the Pantheon is considered a forerunner of all modern places of worship, the most copied of all classical buildings. our walking arrive to the Spanish Steps, dominated by the church of Trinità dei Monti, and move on to the Rococo splendor of the Trevi Fountain. Admire the fantastical creatures designed to embody movement. Learn how, according to tradition, if you throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain you will eventually return to Rome. Toss in a penny and cross your fingers! if you are not tired we could see Piazza Venezia, Campo dei Fiori or just stop for a coffee admiring what we saw before you head back to Civitavecchia at 03.30 pm.
