You will see the city's most iconic landmarks, stunning architecture, and quaint corners, learn about the origins of the university and town, see Cambridge College life from the inside, and hear tales of royals, rebels, religious men, poets and revolutionary scientists like Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking. You will also visit the Old Cavendish laboratory where discoveries like electrons and the structure of DNA were made, the famous Eagle pub, a thousand-year-old church, and a strangely captivating time-eating monster. The tour will conclude on Cambridge's most iconic street: King's Parade. Every step reveals the brilliance of Cambridge’s past and present.
The Tour begins inside the Cambridge Tourist Information Centre in the Guildhall on Peas Hill, and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Entry to a college is included at no extra charge (subject to College opening times).
- The tours begin inside the Tourist Information Centre in the Cambridge Guildhall (enter from Peas Hill door on the west side of the building).
- Walking distance on this tour is less than 1 mile (less than 1.5km) at a leisurely, strolling pace.
- The tour is wheelchair accessible. Accessibility accommodations such as a rest break can be incorporated on request.
- Service animals are permitted in all locations. Pet-friendly tours my be available on request by advance arrangement with the guide.
- Minors 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Cambridge Colleges are usually open to visitors, and most tours include a chance to step inside. Very occasionally, a college may close without notice. If that happens, a substitute stop will be added to the tour.
