Description
Present-day spirituality + ancient Christian monastery. Firstly you will encounter to a unique, Hungarian mix of religions: native samanism, christianity and hinduism under the influence of esoteric teachings.
Then feel something special by the ruins of a 700 years old monastery. In the end optionally walk up to an enthralling viewpoint over the waving forests and Budapest!
This is a relatively new programme here, but I have over 21 years of guiding experience: I am said to be friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining and had guests from 57 countries. Also authored 2 books on a linguistic discovery.
1. WALK: The path is called Startrail and leads to the Church of Pilis (Pilisi Boldogasszony-kápolna, on google rated 4.9 by 348 visitors) and is similar to the stations of Christ, but in this case it is not about what happened to Him during his last way, but we meet the most important figures of Hungarian history carved into wood.
Why was the church built at this place?
Are we, Hungarians the descendents of the HUNs of Attila or not?
When did we arrive to present-day Hungary?
How did our original, runic script looked like?
Who are the MAGYARs then?
Our Language: being totally different from every other European languages – where does it originate from according to scientist and new wave thinkers? And is it really the most difficult to learn?
Religion: what was the original religion of Hungarians? Paganic rites or christianity?
How did it change by: catolicism, protestantism, communism and esotericism? What is it now?
Learn about the only monastic order founded in Hungary: the Paulians! Founded by Ozseb 800 years ago, who gathered the hermits of this area and created a religious community, which is still active nowadays. They founded several monasteries throughout the country and that is our next stop!
2. VISIT: after absorbing the holy atmosphere and spectacular views of the magical valley we walk back to the car (this part is only 1.5 km back and forth) and drive 30 mins to the ruins of a Paulian Monastery (rated 4.7 on google by 121 visitors, called Budaszentlőrinci pálos kolostor). Built in 1300, it had held the remains of St. Paul! After miracuolus healings happening here it has gained reputation Hungary-wide and was active for over 2 centuries until the Ottomans invaded the country.
We can stroll around the ruins where TRULY MYSTICAL ATMOSPHERE PREVAILS. Honestly, this place really has a special feel.
3. SHORT HIKE TO VIEWPOINT – OPTIONAL, FREE: after grabing some food in one of the nearby buffes and optionally (same fee) walk 1.1 km to a superb viewpoint (Kaán Károly-kilátó, rated 4.8 on google by 1448 visitors) to see on one side the mountains and on the other side the City! 2.2 km disctance in total with 110 m elevations up and downhill, really worth it!
Then jump back to the car and drive to your hotel in 20-30 mins.
