Description
The Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park is the largest recreation area in metro Boston, with an ocean of things to see, do, and discover. From yoga on the beach, hiking, summer jazz concerts, and Civil War era forts. There’s something for everyone—and it’s all just minutes away.
About this Experience:
Choose from Georges Island or Spectacle Island as your destination (please note departure times for each island prior to booking.) This is a DIRECT ferry service and there is no interisland ferry service.
Georges Island: Departures at 10AM, 12PM, 2PM
Explore Civil-War-era Fort Warren, enjoy a picnic, take a ranger-guided tour, or stop by the visitor center to delve into history — and be sure to ask about the legend of the Lady in Black!
Spectacle Island: Departures at 10:30AM, 12:30PM, 2:30PM
Take in the breathtaking, panoramic views of Boston Harbor, relax on the beach, enjoy a day of hiking, and much more.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Use your original ticket to board any of the return trips back to Long Wharf. Return ferries depart the island an hour after their original departure from Long Wharf.
- Concessions on the islands are limited for the 2025 season. Food and beverages can be purchased on the ferry and carried onto the islands. Please remember that the islands are a carry-off what you carried on the facility and we ask that you take any trash with you when you leave.
- Your ticket includes round-trip ferry passage to the island. The departure ticket is timed, the return ticket is open.
- Once in the park, enjoy access to visitor amenities, a variety of regularly scheduled public programs, and self-guided activities.
- Allow at least 4 hours for your visit including the ferry ride. It takes roughly 45 minutes to cruise to Georges Island and roughly 30 minutes to cruise to Spectacle Island.
- The ferry is wheelchair accessible, however, not all areas of the islands are accessible.
