Description

The tour begins outside, where the verticality of the basilica and the height of its still-rising towers will take your breath away. Your guide will walk you through the symbolism of the two main façades: the Nativity, alive and luminous, and the Passion, austere and angular. Two opposing readings of the same Christ carved in stone. Then, with skip-the-line access, you'll enter a stone forest of 36 tree-like columns supporting a vault flooded by stained-glass light: yellow, blue and green on the Nativity side, orange and red on the Passion side. The atmosphere shifts hour by hour, and so does the visit.
