Description

Visit the KBr Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona Photo Center in the Port Olimpic area of Barcelona and explore a space dedicated to artistic photography.

Until September, 06 2026 discover the temporary exhibition space featuring contemporary photography and the third edition of the annual appointment with the emerging creation of the new generations of photographers:

Minor White
Minor White (Minneapolis, 1908–1976) was a key figure in twentieth-century American photography, both for his innovative body of work and for his role as a teacher and co-founder of the magazine Aperture. He developed a highly personal photographic language, structured in sequences, that remains unparalleled in the history of photography. This exhibition, the first retrospective of his work in Europe, offers a comprehensive overview of his practice across genres such as portraiture, landscape, and the nude, and includes previously unseen materials that reveal the technical and poetic dimensions of an artist who placed photography at the center of modern artistic discourse.

Joaquín Tuquets de Cabirol. Eloquent Form
Joaquín Tusquets de Cabirol (Barcelona, 1904–1979), a chemist by profession and a photographer with a perceptive eye, developed a body of work shaped by an aesthetic sensibility nurtured within a culturally engaged family environment. This exhibition, organized by Fundación Mapfre in collaboration with the Fundación Photographic Social Vision, offers a unique view of post–Civil War Catalonia through prints of outstanding technical quality. As part of the KBr program dedicated to photographic collections held by Catalan institutions, the exhibition revisits the work of a key figure in understanding the transition toward photographic modernity and the mastery of chemical printing processes.
