Description

Visit the KBr Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona Photo Center in the Port Olimpic area of Barcelona and explore a space dedicated to artistic photography.

Until May, 24 2026 discover the temporary exhibition space featuring contemporary photography and the third edition of the annual appointment with the emerging creation of the new generations of photographers:

Walker Evans. Now and Then
Walker Evans (1903–1975) is a key figure in modern photography and one of the great visual chroniclers of 20th-century United States. His work, seemingly simple yet deeply expressive, captures everyday life, urban landscapes, and the anonymous faces of a country in transformation.
A pioneer of the documentary style, Evans combined a direct and austere gaze with an unending
curiosity for the signs of popular culture.
The exhibition Walker Evans: Now and Then, curated by David Campany, offers a comprehensive overview of his career and lasting influence, from his early photographs of the 1920s to his experiments with a Polaroid in the 1970s, including iconic images and key projects that reflect his critical eye and remarkable observational skill.

Pérez Siquier. Fundación MAPFRE Collections
Carlos Pérez Siquier (Almería, 1930–2021) was a central figure in Spanish photography and one of the
great renovators of 20th-century visual language. From his hometown, he developed a modern and
poetic body of work that reflects, with sensitivity and irony, Spain’s social and cultural transformations.
A pioneer of color photography and co-founder of the Agrupación Fotográfica Almeriense and the
magazine AFAL, he played a decisive role in establishing photography as an artistic discipline.
The exhibition Pérez Siquier. Fundación MAPFRE Collections brings together a selection of his works,
incorporated into the Foundation’s photography collection since 2022. Through emblematic series such
as “La Chanca”, Informalisms” and “The Beach”, the show traces his transition from black-and-white to
color, highlighting his singular vision and his contribution to the modernization of Spanish photography.
