Description

Visit the KBr Fundación MAPFRE Barcelona Photo Center in the Port Olimpic area of Barcelona and explore a space dedicated to artistic photography.

Until January, 17 2027 discover the temporary exhibition space featuring contemporary photography and the third edition of the annual appointment with the emerging creation of the new generations of photographers:

Dana Lixenberg. American Images
Dana Lixenberg (Amsterdam, 1964) is one of the leading figures in contemporary documentary photography. Her work, developed primarily in the United States, is characterised by a close, nonstereotypical perspective that addresses issues such as inequality, identity, and resilience.
American Images brings together some of her most significant projects, from Imperial Courts, begun in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, to her portraits in Jeffersonville (Indiana) and Shishmaref (Alaska). In collaboration with Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP), the exhibition spans more than three decades of work focused on the representation of marginalised communities, icons of popular culture, and social landscapes imbued with memory.

KBr Flama’26
KBr Flama’26 presents the sixth edition of KBr Fundación Mapfre’s annual showcase of a new generation of photographers embarking on their professional careers after completing their training in Barcelona. The exhibition brings together the work of Sara Bravo, Elena Bulet i Llopis, Meghan Mathews, and Luca Gaetano Pira, four young photographers who draw on their personal experiences to address issues of universal relevance. Their projects combine documentary photography and staged scenes to explore the visibility and struggles of the LGBTIQA+ community, as well as the role of family heritage in shaping relationships and memory.

- April 1: Tuesday - Sunday (and holidays) : 11 am - 8:00 pm

  • Available in English, Catalan and Spanish – Free
  • The standard ticket includes an audio guide, accessible via a QR code available in the room. A mobile device with an active mobile internet connection is required. If you don't have mobile data, you can connect to the free Wi-Fi network available in the space.
  • Headphones are required to avoid disturbing other visitors. It is recommended to bring your own headphones, although you can also purchase them for €1 (jack type) at the ticket counter, in which case you may need to wait depending on availability.
