Take a day trip by bus from Amsterdam for a comfortable break into deep-rooted Dutch tradition! Travel beyond breathtaking countryside, connect to free Wi-Fi, and get carried away by the iconic windmills.

At first, Zaanse Schans welcomes you to a village like no other. Walk around at leisure; admire the windmills that are perfectly preserved and the quaint old houses. Onwards now to Volendam, the lively fishing village. There, visit a cheese shop where the old ways are still used, and enjoy an instructive Volendam cheese presentation.

Then, enjoy a fine lunch in a traditional fish restaurant (at your own pace and cost), after which you can explore the rest of Volendam's treats. For the ultimate Dutch experience, choose to pay in full, cover a beautiful boat ride to Marken, enter a working windmill, and see an interesting demonstration of clog-making!

We’ve reshaped the journey and are now departing Amsterdam later, at 12:00 PM, giving you a leisurely start before diving into the Dutch heartland. The focus is squarely on the magnificent Zaanse Schans and the charming fishing village of Volendam, making the experience a perfectly timed 5.5 to 6 hours.

We’ve also clarified the choices so you know exactly what adventure awaits. The Classic Tour now beautifully pairs the traditional cheese demonstration with the captivating art of clog-making. But for those wanting the full flavour, the All-In Tour offers the works: cheese, clogs, a cruise on the Marken Express, entry to a working windmill, and a sweet stop at Woltje's Bakery. It's a tighter, richer, and more focused journey into the best of Dutch tradition!
