Welcome to Rembrandt’s historic home! Explore his living room, art collection and atelier. It was here that he created his greatest masterpieces. Step back in time to the 17th century and be inspired by Rembrandt the man, the artist, his home, his city and his era.
The Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam is the only museum in the world entirely dedicated to Rembrandt. He lived and worked here for almost 20 years, during which time he became one of the greatest artists of all time. Walk through his home and take a look inside his famous atelier. Learn how Rembrandt created his art during the daily painting and etching demonstrations and feel as though you are looking over the master’s shoulder. With the free multimedia tour, available in 16 languages (including Dutch sign language), you’ll discover fascinating stories about the house and the people who lived there. For families with children, there is a special multimedia tour featuring Rembrandt’s little dog Kwast, and a treasure hunt. The modern museum wing hosts temporary exhibitions featuring works by Rembrandt and artists inspired by him. A unique experience for young and old alike. You won’t get any closer to Rembrandt than this.

This summer, join Rembrandt on a journey through life in the exhibition Rembrandt & Life, featuring over 50 prints and 2 of his paintings. You can see a whole life unfold before your eyes, from cradle to grave. Every stage of life held something of interest for Rembrandt. He had a particularly keen eye for the wonder of the ordinary. From the clenched fists of a crying baby and the mischievous glances of young lovers to the beauty of a wrinkled face. 30 August 2026.
