Description

This city tour combines two must-do experiences: a Red Light District tour and a city centre tour through Amsterdam’s beautiful canal belt. Both are absolute highlights of any visit to Amsterdam. Choose your preferred language and explore Amsterdam with one of our experienced and professional guides: German, English, Italian, Spanish, French, Hungarian or Dutch. All our guides are native speakers.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Amsterdam with one of our professional and experienced tour guides and learn all about the history and culture of our charming canal city, including the fascinating Red Light District. On this informative 2-hour walking tour through the beautiful little streets, you will also receive numerous tips for the rest of your stay.

Stroll along Amsterdam’s picturesque canals in the historic canal belt, part of the UNESCO Canal Ring of Amsterdam, and explore charming streets, romantic canal-side houses and unique architectural styles. Learn why Amsterdam is considered one of the most free-spirited cities in the world and what life is like today in this cosmopolitan, tolerant and multicultural city.

Learn how the city’s golden age of trade helped art and creativity flourish in Amsterdam. Artists such as Rembrandt, whose works now hang in the Rijksmuseum, and Van Gogh, who has his own museum, the Van Gogh Museum, benefited greatly from the wealth generated by trade, even if not necessarily during their lifetimes. The famous Heineken brewery also grew during the city’s heyday. Today, the Heineken Experience has become an integral part of Amsterdam. But there is something that benefited even more from the trade: the business in the red-light district.

Gain insight into the history of Amsterdam’s coffeeshops and Marihuana, the current political landscape, and why they are seen as both a blessing and a challenge for the city.

Discover local highlights such as Dam Square with important sights as the Royal Palace and Madame Tussauds Amsterdam, the Redlight district, the Torensluis Bridge and see the Anne Frank House from the outside.

The city is also home to the famous Red Light District, a historic neighbourhood that has become an integral part of Amsterdam. Learn about the realities of sex work in the district, including how the system operates, the regulations involved, and aspects such as pricing, room rent and taxation, as well as the safety of the women working there.

Discover the regulatory mechanisms in the neighbourhood and gain a deeper understanding of the structures of sex work. This tour captures many different facets of Amsterdam and is therefore perfectly suited as an introductory tour of the city.
